Our course follows the “ten finger touch-typing system”. This means that all ten fingers are used without the necessity of looking at the keyboard. To help achieve this, the children cover all of the keys with coloured stickers. On the basis of these colours, the children know which finger to use without being able to see which letter is underneath. This system works perfectly, precisely because we build up the number of letters step by step.
After 20 weeks, your child will have excellent typing skills. During those weeks your child will have thoroughly learnt all about the keyboard. Through working in a word processing program he or she will have insight into the layout of many documents regularly recurring in practise. We strive for a level of at least 120 keystrokes per minute with a high degree of accuracy.
The fact that the children enjoy it and continue to do so is evidenced by the very high number of students taking the course who are awarded a certificate following their successful completion of the final examination. It is our experience that every student can indeed achieve the objective.
Your child will have a skill for life. This is extremely valuable, both at school and in a future employment environment. Just think, they will be able to compose letters and essays, edit texts and send e-mails, quickly and skilfully. Furthermore, good typing proficiency can help to prevent RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury).
